WHY SEE A CHIROPRACTOR?

Top Reasons Parents Bring Their Children to See a Chiropractor

· To encourage good neural plasticity (brain and nerve development)

· To support their child’s overall health and wellbeing

· To assist with colic and Irritable Baby Syndrome

· To encourage good spinal posture

· To assist with sleep issues

· To assist with motor and sensory disturbances

Many parents see Chiropractors for their baby with:

· Feeding attachment issues

· Difficulty turning their head to both sides

· Concerns about head shape or a misshapen head

· Digestive disturbances and colic

· Unsettled sleep patterns

· Repeated sickness/ immune system function

Parents of healthy babies also choose to have them checked for health and development.

What does the Chiropractor Do for kids?

· We assess your babies nervous system; hips, spine and cranial-dural system for interference.

· We help restore balance and function using very gentle and specific adjustments and also advise on neuro-developmental exercises that can be done at home.

RESEARCH

What research has shown in a nutshell is that when your child’s spine is not moving properly this changes the way their brain perceives what is going on in and around the body, the way it integrates other sensory information and the way it controls the body.

COLIC

There have been many research studies that have looked at the effect of chiropractic care to help babies with colic. The researchers found that after 10 days excessively crying babies were almost 12 times as likely to cry significantly less if they received chiropractic care compared to babies not receiving care.

BEDWETTING

Researchers found that after 10 weeks the children receiving chiropractic care had on average dropped from 9.1 wet nights over a 2 week period to 7.6 wet nights. The control group of children on the other hand didn’t really change at all, going from 12.1 wet nights before the trial to 12.2 afterwards.

If your spinal dysfunction was manifesting as clumsiness then this is likely to improve with chiropractic care. If your spinal dysfunction was manifesting as back pain then this is likely to get better. If colic or bedwetting were related to the spinal dysfunction, then this may well improve. ANXIETY IN CHILDREN

Although Chiropractic doesn’t directly treat anxiety, we know that Chiropractic care changes the function of the prefrontal cortex in the brain. The prefrontal cortex is the ‘conductor’ of your brain and is directly involved in the regulation of:

• Empathy
• Sequencing / time management
• Gastrointestinal
• Decision making
• Intelligence
• Inhibits irrelevant distracters
• Maintains focus on goal directed tasks
• Reward based learning
• Mental health
• Emotional regulation
• Social interaction
• Immune system
• Inflammation
• Processing of pain and
emotional response to it
• Rational thinking
• Attention and focus

Chiropractic care for your child can help their body better regulate itself.

Have your child’s ‘Brain Conductor’ fine tuned with Chiropractic care.

We also offer the Safe and Sound Protocol, developed by Dr. Stephen Porges. The SSP is a five-day intervention designed to reduce stress and auditory sensitivity while enhancing social engagement and resilience. By calming the physiological and emotional state, the door is opened for improved communication and more successful therapy.

Chiropractic care helps connect the brain to the body. The better the connection the more likely your kids brain is able to identify that their bladder is full and let them know it’s time for the toilet!
